PocketFives: How did you choose your user name?

APokerJoker2: At least seven years ago, I made the name. It’s just PokerJoker with an ace (A) and a deuce (2), which was my favorite hand as an amateur.

PocketFives: How long have you been playing online poker?

APokerJoker2: I’ve been playing online for almost ten years since before the UIGEA and Black Friday.

PocketFives: What do you base your current successes online?

APokerJoker2: I spend a lot of time reading and watching videos, but especially talking through hands with some of the best poker minds I know.

PocketFives: What do you like best about playing online poker?

APokerJoker2: I like being able to play 20 tournaments a day and not having to worry about variance or bad beats. Also, it’s nice to not have to leave the house.

PocketFives: Have you played any WSOP events at the Rio before?

APokerJoker2: Yes, every year since I was 21 I’ve gone to the WSOP. I didn’t cash in any bracelet events this year, although I went deep in the NL 2-7 Single Draw. I also had a deep run in a daily deep stack, finishing around 18th, but altogether it wasn’t a good summer for me.

PocketFives: How do you prepare yourself for live tournament play?

APokerJoker2: I make sure I get enough sleep and eat well and definitely do not overeat or do anything to make me sluggish.

PocketFives: Do you have any mentors?

APokerJoker2: I like to talk to my two good friends, Taylor “Tblk158” Black and Brett “slurry55” Murray.

PocketFives: Is there anything else you would like to add?

APokerJoker2: Poker is extremely tough and nowhere near as glamorous as it seems, although with hard work it can be extremely rewarding.
