PocketFives: When did you start playing poker and why was it appealing?

Aaron Seligson: I started playing poker in early 2012. I used to go to Atlantic City a lot to party and played games like blackjack and roulette. Then, a friend I met at work would tell me about poker and how it was a game of skill and how he would have friendly home games and made money consistently. I quickly started watching videos online and reading material. Not always playing the cards, but also the player, and skills like putting players on ranges is what caught me. Also the fact that tons of players play for a living is something that you don’t really see in the blackjack and roulette world. It really intrigued me.

PocketFives: How do you pick what cash games or tournaments to play?

Aaron Seligson: I don’t really like cash games online, but I do like $1-$2 or $2-$5 No Limit Hold’m at brick-and-mortar casinos. Tournament-wise, I like freezeouts and anything with a decent guarantee. I also prefer a deep stack structure.

PocketFives: What are your favorite New Jersey online poker sitesto play and why?

Aaron Seligson: I actually like a bit of everything. WSOP started out more popular and had bigger pools and a bigger list of tournaments. Then, I heard about $10,000 Guarantee on PartyPoker, which was deeper and a freezeout, so I joined that. One of my friends told me that all of 888 Poker’s tournaments were freezeouts so I joined there also.

PocketFives: Since the launch of regulated online poker in New Jersey, what has been your most memorable cash or win?

Aaron Seligson: My most memorable cash was my third place finish in Ultimate Poker’s $20,000 Guarantee last June because I won a satellite the day before with $10 and turned it into $2,400 to start up my bankroll.

PocketFives: Is there anyone or anything that helped change how you approach the game?

Aaron Seligson: My own experience has helped change the way how I approach the game. Things such as blown leads, chasing too many draws, getting involved in hands I shouldn’t, and making less money than I could have made have helped me develop patience and discipline. Also, talking about poker with players like Marueen Redhotmomma Ludwig and Dale Grat3fuldead Holzer has helped as well.

PocketFives: What do you do away from poker? What else interests you?

Aaron Seligson: Away from poker I work a full-time job. I like to travel, dance, party, watch sports, and spend time with my lady, cat, and bird.
