Jay Farberwas the top dog in the 2013 World Series of Poker Main Event after the second level of Day 4. He continued running well down the stretch and stood with the fourth largest stack after the dinner break on Day 6 when three dozen players remained out of the over 6,300 who began. He finished second to Ryan Riess when all was said and done and pocketed $5.1 million.

The Main Event took place in his own backyard, as Farber is a Las Vegas resident, and he ejected Phil Mader from the tournament in 43rd place on Day 6. In the hand, Mader was all-in before the flop and Farber and Chris Lindh both made the call. When the first three cards came K-6-5, Farber made a bet of 1.7 million, Lindh got out of the way, and the cards were revealed.

Farber showed A-K for top pair, while Mader flipped up A-Q for ace-high. The turn and river came 9-A, respectively, and Farber continued to chip up in poker’s most prestigious tournament to nearly 10 million.

According to his Twitter profile, Farber is a “VIP host, poker player, degenerate gambler, and nightclub and restaurant aficionado.” He was formerly known as JayLV on the Two Plus Two forums and Tweeted at one point late on Day 6, “They asked me who my favorite poker player was… I thought about 2 seconds then I realized it’s @DanBilzerian without a doubt.”

One day prior to that Tweet, Farber told his followers on the social network that he was appreciative of all of their support: “238 people between me and the @WSOP Main Event title and bracelet. Thanks again to all my friends for the support. #rungood.” He added, “Just gettin a chance to catch up on all the texts and posts I’ve missed. Thank you all so much for the support. Long way to go to #november9.” He had a very vocal cheering section on Twitter throughout Day 7 and the final table of the Main Event, largely consisting of well-known poker pros.
