Over the weekend, U.K. poker pro Chris moorman1Moorman (pictured) did the unthinkable. Moorman became the first PocketFiver to reach $7.5 million in tracked online poker earnings. He’s a two-time Monthly PLBchampion who also holds the record for the most number of Triple Crownsever at 11. Moorman is a staple of the PocketFives community and a former #1 player in the PocketFives Rankings. We were privileged to catch up with the 2011 CardPlayer Player of the Year contender on Monday and got his reaction.

PocketFives: Thanks for joining us. You’re the first PocketFives member ever to reach $7.5 million in tracked online poker winnings, which has to feel good.

Chris Moorman: Yeah, it feels good. I guess it’s really a testament to my longevity in the online MTT scene. A lot of players have had big success and burnt themselves out, but I’ve managed to do it for a long time without losing my love for the game.

PocketFives: You’ve been an active member of the PocketFives community for five years now, going on six. How have you been able to post consistent results without burning yourself out or losing your love for the game?

Chris Moorman: In the last few years, I’ve tried to play fewer tables at a time so I can focus more on taking different lines and improving my game. Also, playing fewer tables makes it feel like less of a job. I’ve also been traveling to more live events in the last few years, so that helps to break up the grind of online tournaments quite well.

PocketFives: Over the weekend, you finished second in the PokerStars $82 No Limit Hold’em Six-Max Hyper Turbofor $7,400, which helped catapult you over $7.5 million in tracked cashes. You seemed like you were stuck on $7.4 million for quite some time. Was that frustratingat all?

Chris Moorman: I was going to get there eventually through min-cashing and playing my game, but I wanted to get there in style with a big win. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite work out like that, as I lost heads-up to Zackattak13 in the $82 Hyper on Sunday, but it felt good to finally get there before I go off for my next live trip to Greece for EPT Loutraki.

PocketFives: Will you be approaching the EPT Greece Main Event any differently given your three top-three finishes in WSOP tournaments this year?

Chris Moorman: I still have yet to cash in an EPT event, so that’s the first step. I’m a lot more confident in my live game than in previous years, but I don’t think my live game has changed that much, to be honest. The real aim for the rest of the year is to try to chase down Ben Lamb (pictured) in the CardPlayer Player of the Year race.

PocketFives: Can you talk about watching Ben Lamb go deep in the WSOP Main Event? His run ended with a third place finish.

Chris Moorman: Ben’s a great player and seems like a great guy from our brief conversations deep in the $10,000 Six-Max WSOP event over the summer, but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t anti-railing him a bit in the Main Event because of the CardPlayer Player of the Year race. I don’t really know anyone in the November Nine well, but I was rooting for Sam Holden the most because of the Brit factor.

PocketFives: Given Ben Lamb’s success and 2011 WSOP Player of the Year title, what are the odds you’d give yourself for overtaking him in the CardPlayer Player of the Year race?

Chris Moorman: At the moment, I’m 161 points behind Ben, which really isn’t much in terms of actual results. I’d imagine Ben will probably take it easy between now and the end of the year, probably only playing in the Bellagio $10,000 WPT event. Therefore, I think I have a decent shot at making it if I continue to run good and play well.
