After falling short by one poi0nt last week, Mike norfair18Phillips (pictured) is the #1 player in the PocketFives Poker Rankingsfor the first time ever. He’s officially at 7,359 PLB Points, the metric used to determine the Rankings, and leads second-ranked Nico PokerKaiser Fierro (pictured below) by 68 points. Since we have a pretty tight race, could we see a changing of the guard once again next week?

Phillips has had a productive month of April thus far, finishing second in the iPoker €25,000 Grand Tuesday, which plays out on sites like bet-at-home, MyBet, and William Hill, for $5,700 and capturing the gold in the 888 PokerCrocodile for $6,400. He took third in the Full TiltSuper Sized Sunday two weeks ago for $13,000 and won the PartyPoker Daily Major for another $4,800. His largest cash of April came in the Million Dollar Sunday and was worth $31,000.

Fierro has kept the battle at the top very competitive. Incredibly, the Chilean has won 10 tournaments in the last nine days, the largest being the 888 Mega Deep for $35,000. Fierro is closing in on 300 tracked wins in online MTTs and is at almost $7.7 million in winnings.

For the second straight week, there were no new entrants into the top 10 of the PocketFives Rankings. However, knocking on the door are two players who jumped up from the 30s this week. The first is Finland’s OgSulttaani, who moved up from #34 to #13 after winning seven tournaments in the last seven days, including the PokerStars Bigger $55 for $38,000.

One spot behind OgSulttaani in the Rankings is x_zola25, who moved up from #32 to #14, five spots off his all-time high. x_zola25 won the Sunday Second Chance over the weekend and raked in $38,000. He also took down two versions of the PartyPoker Daily Major last Wednesday for almost $7,000 combined.

Finally this week, we wanted to single out UK poker player marcin123, who rose 34 spots to settle at #45 in the world, his best showing ever. He won the PokerStars $8.80 Rebuy earlier this month for $10,000 and has taken down four tournaments since then. He’s a few thousand dollars shy of hitting $2.5 million in career online tournament winnings.
