“Selling one of my Bellagio bracelets on eBay. Meltdown value is $2600. My reserve is much lower. Buy some gold.” Those were the words of Dutch Boyd (pictured), who announced on Twitter that he is selling one of his prized bracelets. The heirloom, which is numbered 181047204908 on eBay, opened at a price of $1,500, but as of the time of writing, no one had submitted any bid. The offering received mixed reaction on Two Plus Two.

The bidding will end on Saturday at 6:00pm PT. The text describing the bracelet on eBay read in part, “Up for sale is this Men’s Bellagio Gold Poker Tournament Bracelet. It’s 14k gold, made in Italy, weighs in at 83 grams and just over 2.6 troy oz. I won this bracelet from a Bellagio NL Holdem poker tournament in 2008. I don’t believe the Bellagio awards gold bracelets for their tournaments anymore, so these aren’t being made again. It’s a nice looking bracelet, but I’ve never worn it. So, I’m selling it to raise some Christmas cash.”

Boyd won the bracelet (pictured) during the 2008 Five Diamond World Poker Classic in a $2,500 No Limit Hold’em tournament that brought out 234 players. Others at the final table of the event included Allen AawwNutzCarter and longtime PocketFives member Eric basebaldyBaldwin. Boyd calculated the meltdown value of the piece of hardware at $2,644, derived from a price of $54.63 per gram.

On Two Plus Two, the reaction was mixed to the embattled pro’s bracelet being for sale. One poster argued that selling the bracelet was perfectly reasonable, saying, “It’s not like it’s an Olympic gold medal. It means you ran good one day. So what? It’s not a symbol of achievement. It’s a symbol of an era of poker to which we might never return, and Dutch Boyd, even if he is not regarded as a particularly good player, is a player of some fame.”

Another poster questioned why anyone would want to buy a bracelet they didn’t earn: “Why would you want to buy a bracelet if you didn’t win it? What, are you going to walk around the house saying, ‘Look at me, I’m a bracelet winner, I’m Phil Hellmuth.’” The item ships to U.S. users only and its location is listed as Las Vegas.

Also on eBay, albeit from a different seller, is a 2006 World Series of Poker preliminary event bracelet(pictured) that has an asking price of $4,950. There is no bidding activity on the item either and its seller refuses to divulge who its former owner was. It could be another piece of Boyd memorabilia, as he won a WSOP bracelet in 2006 in a $2,500 Short-Handed No Limit Hold’em tournament for $475,000. The piece of jewelry has 1 Karat of diamonds and 66 grams of 14-Karat gold.

There have been a variety of WSOP bracelets that have popped up on eBay over the years, including Peter Eastgate‘s Main Event trophy from 2010. That one was put up for charity and sold for $147,500. A bracelet belonging to T.J. Cloutier fetched just over $4,000 and then was returned to him. The winning bid in that auction, which occurred in early 2010, belonged to Cake Poker.
