Welcome to the PocketFives September Live Tournament Preview presented by TourneyTracks.com. There is heavy tournament action in September especially in the West and Central areas.

East

The World Poker Tour stops at the Borgata in Atlantic City (pictured) for the Borgata Poker Open from September 3 to September 20. There will be 25 events with buy-ins ranging from $230 to $3,500 offered in a variety of formats. The $3,500 Main Event has a $3 million guarantee and will be televised by the WPT. The Borgata always puts on great events and this should be on any serious East Coast tournament grinder’s schedule.

There are also a couple of events near Montreal, Quebec. The Playground Poker Club is hosting the Full Tilt Poker Montreal Festival from September 21 to October 3, which will have 17 events with buy-ins ranging from $60 CAD to $1,100 CAD. Qualifiers are also being run online at Full Tilt and PokerStars. Also, the VIP Poker Room is hosting the Canadian Poker Tour Mega Stack from September 24 to October 2, which will consist of eight events with buy-ins from $85 CAD to $1,500 CAD.

West

The Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California (pictured) is holding Big Poker October from September 22 to October 15. It is a series of 32 events with buy-ins ranging from $75 to $550. This should be good for players with smaller bankrolls looking to have multiple opportunities to score.

The Heartland Poker Tour is holding four events in the West. First, the Golden Gates Casino in Black Hawk, Colorado hosts the HPT from September 6 to 16. There will be a few small tournaments available in addition to the $1,650 televised Main Event.

Next, the Commerce Casino teams up with the HPT for the Commerce Poker Championship from September 4 to 23. There will be 26 events with buy-ins from $150 to $1,100 in addition to the $1,650 Main Event. There are a variety of formats available, including an Open Face Chinese tournament.

The HPT then moves north near Sacramento, California to the Thunder Valley Casino Resort from September 20 to 30. There will be nine events with buy-ins from $120 to $425 in addition to the $1,650 Main Event. Event #1, a $425 NLHE tournament with a $150,000 guarantee, will have the final table live streamed. Finally, the HPT makes its first stop at the Club One Casino in Fresno, California from September 27 to October 6.

The Red Rock Ultimate Poker Challenge runs until September 8 and is a joint series between the Red Rock Casino in Las Vegas and the online poker room Ultimate Poker. The Bellagio hosts the Festa al Lago through September 12, which features 18 events with buy-ins from $540 to $5,180. Caesars offers a low-roller series to start the football season with the Kickoff Poker Classic until September 15. There are 30 events with buy-ins from $130 to $560.

The Venetian holds yet another Deep Stack Extravaganza from September 16 to 29. This time, there will be 34 events in a variety of formats with buy-ins from $200 to $1,600.

The Atlantis Casino Resort in Reno, Nevada is hosting a WPT Regional event from September 14 to 22. The Western Poker Challenge is an 18-event series with buy-ins from $120 to $1,650. Reno offers reasonable prices on accommodations and, with fewer distractions than Vegas, it should be easier to focus on poker.

The Edgewater Casino in Vancouver, British Columbia hosts the West Coast Poker Championship from September 27 to October 6. There will be five events with buy-ins from $120 to $1,650.

Central

The Mid-States Poker Tour stops at Downstream Casino in Quapaw, Oklahoma (pictured) from August 30 to September 8 for its special “Keep It or Cash It” event. The buy-in is lowered to $460 from the normal $1,100, but participants can play each of eight Day 1 flights. At the end of each Day 1, you have the option of keeping your stack or cashing it out for $400 plus $0.01 per chip. All surviving Day 1 stacks that are not cashed out will be combined into one stack for Day 2.

The Choctaw Casino in Durant, Oklahoma hosts the Fall Poker Series from September 26 to October 7. There are 25 events with buy-ins from $125 to $1,120. There is even some PLO and HORSE for those looking for something other than NLHE.

Running Aces Harness Park in Columbus, Minnesota is holding its Midwest Poker Classic from September 11 to 22. There will be 25 events with buy-ins from $100 to $2,500. There are a variety of formats including HORSE and Joker’s Wild. There is a $2,500 High Roller tournament in addition to the $1,100 Main Event. Running Aces always has fantastic structures and offers good value for tournament players.

The Soaring Eagle Casino in Mount Pleasant, Michigan is hosting the Michigan Poker Classic from September 20 to 22. This is a $1,500 event with two Day 1 flights.

The World Series of Poker Circuit stops at the Horseshoe Casino in Cincinnati, Ohio from September 19 to 30. There will be the standard 12 ring events with buy-ins from $365 to $1,675 as well as a few non-ring events starting as low as $130.

The McPhillips Station Casino in Winnipeg, Manitoba is hosting the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Poker Championship from September 25 to 29. The series includes four events with buy-ins from $300 CAD to $1,100 CAD.

South

The WSOP Circuit stops at the IP Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi (pictured) from September 5 to 16. There will be the standard 12 ring events with buy-ins from $365 to $1,675 as well as a few non-ring events starting at $120.

The Card Player Poker Tour stop at bestbet Jacksonville continues until September 8. The series has 14 events with buy-ins ranging from $240 to $1,500.

Also in Florida, the Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa hosts the Tampa Bay Open, which is a WPT Regional series from September 6 to 15. It features 17 events with buy-ins from $190 to $1,500.

Finally, the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida is holding the Everglades Poker Open. It should be good for the smaller bankroll since it offers 11 events with buy-ins from $100 to $560.
