On Sunday, the eyes of the online poker community were fixated on the Main Event of the PokerStars Turbo Championship of Online Poker, or TCOOP. The 49th event of the first ever TCOOP, and the series’ finale, brought out a field of nearly 3,400 players in a $700 No Limit Hold’em tournament. When the smoke cleared, two PocketFives members cashed in for nearly $700,000 total, David weavelEmmons (pictured) and Chris Gettin Daize Oliver.

When 13 players remained in the TCOOP Main Event, a thread popped up in the Poker Community forum and a rail formed. The first post in it rooted for Oliver to capture the first ever TCOOP Main Event title, but in the end, that honor went to Emmons, who banked $382,000 from the un-chopped tournament.

One PocketFives member noted that Oliver’s success has been no fluke: “Pretty sure Daize will always run okay, and play even better. His 2nd in PCA was a ‘decent’ run, so everything else is just icing to the cake. Such a sicko.” A former #1 playerin the PocketFives Rankings, Oliver now stands at #23 and resides in Costa Rica. The U.S. transplant has over $4 million in tracked cashes, over half of which have come on PokerStars, where he plays as ImDaNuts.

Oliver’s runner-up finish in the 2011 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure Main Event was worth a commanding $2 million. Last month, Oliver (pictured) final tabled the PokerStars Tenth Anniversary High Roller Event for $93,000 and has wins in the Sunday 500 and $1K Monday to his credit, among other MTTs. He joined PocketFives way back in 2007 and has been exceptionally active in authoring nearly 1,300 posts.

A PocketFives member from Germany exclaimed in the same Poker Community thread, “Absurd! Grats Daize! Gratz betudontbet! Unreal! Can’t wait to see the replay.” A follow-up post praised, “imdanuts and betudontbet are both huge sickos. Someone on P5s predicted betudontbet was gonna crush in 2012. Can’t remember who.” A PocketFives member from New York added, “Daize is such a beast, it’s ridiculous. Congrats to both.”

Oliver’s second place finish on Sunday was worth $285,000. Emmons sits just ahead of him in the Rankings and owns a Triple Crowntitle. He’s been one of the fastest risers we’ve had in the Rankings and is fresh off finishing second in the PartyPoker$100,000 Guaranteed High Roller earlier this month for $29,000. You can read about that tournament in a recent feature article.

In that article, we asked Emmons whether he wants to ascend to the top spot in the Rankings or if he’s content with just being recognized. His response definitely favored the former: “I am proud to be a ranked player. When I was early in my career, I dreamed of being in the top 100 and read the profiles of all of the top 100 players on PocketFives.”

A deal was discussed at several points during the final table, including one that gave Emmons more than first place prize money, but no agreement was ever reached. Emmons, who plays on PokerStars under the user name Betudontbet, entered heads-up play as a 7:1 favorite and closed it out.

Joining the pair at the final table was fellow PocketFives member Dmitry Kataev, who took sixth place for $79,000. The Russian is #122 worldwide in the Rankings and took down the PokerStars $100 Rebuy on the first day of 2012 for nearly $50,000.
