In 2011, Griffin Benger of Canada quickly emerged as a star online tournament player, capturing a victory in the Absolute Poker $1,000+50 buy-in NLHE weekly event for $40,800 and taking 2nd place in the PokerStars $100 rebuy for $31,500. In February '11, Griffin had a 7th place finish in the PokerStars Sunday Million weekly flagship event for $36,700 and followed that up with an eighth place finish one week later.
He also has a victory in the $40k Guaranteed ($100+9 NLHE 6-max with rebuys) for $23,700. Took second in the Full Tilt $750K in May 2011 for $113,000. In September 2011, he final tabled a PokerStars WCOOP $530R event for nearly $100,000, which helped propel him to the 2011 Yearly PLB title on PocketFives.
Benger followed that up by winning the Ongame $100K GTD in May 2012 for $27,000. Two months later, he finished fifth in the PokerStars Sunday $100R for $15,000 and won the July Monthly PLB title. In the first week of December, Benger booked two Triple Crown titles and amassed more than 1,000 PLB Points. They were his third and fourth Triple Crown awards.
In February 2013, Benger final tabled the PokerStars Sunday 500 and grew his bankroll by $11,000. The same month, he won his fifth Triple Crown, which was worth 529.57 points after wins on Stars, Ladbrokes, and Full Tilt. In May 2013, Benger exited in seventh place from the Full Tilt $350K and earned $10,000. Hit $5 million in tracked scores in December 2013.
January 2014 saw him take down the PokerStars Sunday 500 for a healthy $74,000, defeating a field of 801 entrants. Two months later, he scored bronze in the Full Tilt $250K, banking $23,000.
