Normally home to Scottish football club Queen’s Park F.C., Hampden Park will play host to the next stop on Grand Prix Poker Tour in May.

Normally packed with Scotland’s most diehard football fans, Hampden Park stadium in Glasgow will instead play host to the next stop on the partypoker Grand Prix Poker Tour on May 14 and 15. On the pitch, players will do battle for their share of a guaranteed $250,000 prize pool and have the chance to win even more cash in three exclusive promotions.

The $109 buy-in Main Event features a hybrid Day 1 structure, with players able to compete online or live in the stadium. partypoker’s Day 1 qualifiers have already begun and will continue on April 24, May 1, and May 8 to May 13.

To sweeten the deal, the site is awarding the first 100 players to qualify for Day 2 of the Main Event an extra $109 GPPT ticket. Be sure to jump into one of the flights on April 17, April 24 or May 1 for your shot at claiming the free buy-in. partypoker also plans to mix things up by paying Day 2 qualifiers with their min-cash award of $330 ($221 cash and $109 GPPT ticket) as soon as they successfully advance from Day 1.

The GPPT is running another intriguing promo which could mean an even bigger payday for the Main Event winner. If a player holds a Golden Chip and wins the event, they’ll bank an extra $50,000 on top of the main payout. To win a Golden Chip, players must play in one of the seven nightly Golden Chip tournaments already running on partypoker. Three chips will be awarded in each tournament until 500 are awarded in total.

If you win a chip, it will be yours to keep throughout the duration of GPPT Glasgow even if you end up needing to play multiple Day 1s. Furthermore, you could, for example, play four Day 1s, get through on your fourth attempt, and play again to try to qualify with a bigger stack without losing your chip. This promo is valid only for the Glasgow GPPT stop, however, and will be removed from your account shortly after the conclusion of the Main Event.

Players who advance to Day 2 in any GPPT Main Event, whether live or online, will also score an entry on the tour’s £100,000 leaderboard. The more Day 2s you make, the more entries you get, which means you’ll get credit even if you qualify multiple times at the same stop. The top 30 players on the leaderboard will win a £2,200 WPT UK seat, while players finishing 31st to 100th will win a £550 ticket into the WPT 500 (UK). The promo began on October 17 of last year and ends on October 31 of this year.

Players will also have the opportunity to qualify for Day 2 live in Hampden Park on Saturday, May 14 at 12:00, 16:00 and 19:00 local time. The first place finisher of Sunday’s Main Event will win at least $35,000, with second place taking $23,100 and third place pocketing $15,680.

The GPPT will be running two side events for those who either failed to make Day 2 or who bust out of the Main Event early. Players can enter a $25K guaranteed tournament at 13:00 and a $5K guaranteed Six-Max Turbo event at 18:00.
