Jareth East Wins WPTDeepStacks Online for $557,658

On Wednesday, Britain’s Jareth East topped a record field in the WPTDeepStacks Online event at partypoker to win $557,658.14.

East’s triumph came from besting a 3,554-entry field. The $1,050 buy-in event proved the largest field size in WPTDeepStacks history. The win also proved to be the largest score of East’s poker career. Prior to this WPTDeepStacks Online win, East’s largest online score was for $132,200. His largest live tournament score was for $35,940.

East, a PocketFives member since 2013 who has been ranked as high as 12th in the world, defeated Jon Van Fleet in heads-up play. Van Fleet earned $392,717 for his runner-up performance.

East entered the final day of the event in ninth chip position with 15 players remaining. When it was all said and done, East was the last man standing to win the $557,658.14 first-place prize.

Notable deep runs were had by Ludovic Gelich (12th – $27,259.18), Govert Metaal (19th – $15,282.20), Connor Drinan (29th – $11,052.94), and Julien Martini (41st – $8,636.22).

Maksim Bukreev, who entered the final day as the chip leader, placed fourth for $167,748.80. On his final hand, Bukreev opened from under the gun to 3.52 million with the blinds at 400,000/800,000 with a 100,000 ante. Bukreev left himself with 420,628 behind after the raise. On the button, Van Fleet called and the two took a flop of Jh9d9c. Bukreev moved all in and Van Fleet called, to reveal that it was Bukreev’s KcTc up against the KhQs for Van Fleet. The turn was the 5d and the river was the 2c to bust Bukreev.

Farmakoulis fell in third place. East raised to 1.68 million from under the gun and Farmakoulis called out of the big blind to leave himself with 3.85 million behind. On the Ts9c2c flop, Farmakoulis moved all in and East made the call with the KhQd. Farmakoulis had the Js8s and bricked out with the 6d and 4h hitting the board.

Van Fleet had the lead to start heads-up play, with 65.54 million to East’s 40.75 million. The two battled for about 40 minutes before the final hand was played.

On the final hand, East limped the button for 1.2 million and Van Fleet checked his option in the big blind. The flop was Jh9s6s and Van Fleet checked. East bet 1.2 million and Van Fleet raised to 3 million. East then made it 5.4 million and Van Fleet shoved for 18.73 million. East called with the QsQc and Van Fleet had the Ks3s. The turn was the 5c and the river was the 2h to give Van Fleet the win.

Anton Yakuba Wins Mini WPTDeepStacks Online

As with the entire WPT Online Series at partypoker, there was a mini version of the WPTDeepStacks event. The Mini WPTDeepStacks Online had a $109 buy-in and drew a field of 10,400 entries for a $1.04 million prize pool. The winner was Anton Yakuba for $137,396.29 after a deal was made with Luiz Antonio Duarte Ferreira Filho. Filho took home $129,311.72

Michael Tureniec finished third in the Mini WPTDeepStacks Online for $70,262.40, and Griffin Benger took fifth for $31,116.80.

Phil Galfond Defeats ‘ActionFreak’ in Galfond Challenge

The second ‘Galfond Challenge‘ is complete and once again Phil Galfond is the winner. On Tuesday, Galfond finished his challenge against Ioannis ‘ActionFreak’ Kontonatsios, winning approximately €115,000 from play and a €150,000 side bet.

USA SUNDAY MAJORS: Pantaleo Wins WSOP.com ‘Money May’ Main Event

It’s time for another look at the legal U.S. online poker scene, with results from WSOP.com, PokerStars, and partypoker across Nevada, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Memorial Day Weekend didn’t slow down the online poker action around the U.S., as several big prizes were won on the virtual felt. Leading the way was Giusseppe ‘Pantalette’ Pantaleo‘s victory in the WSOP.com Money May Series Main Event that earned Pantaleo almost $60,000. Other big results were had by Nick ‘Maggs’ Olivieri and David ‘dehhhhh’ Coleman.

The WSOP.com Money May Series Main Event drew a field of 494 entries and 254 entries to create a prize pool of $374,000. Pantaleo finished on top and took home $59,615.60. He beat Jonathan ‘jonmon101’ Miller in heads-up play, and then Gordon ‘Gmoney227’ Eng took third and Josh ‘YoelRomero’ King placed fourth. All of the top four finishers picked up more than $20,000 in prize money.

In the WSOP.com $100,000 GTD NL Player Appreciation, a field of 1,027 entries and 696 entries generated a $158,516 prize pool. Winning the event for $34,080.94 was Olivieri. Ari ‘philivey’ Engel took fourth for $9,035.41. Also of note, ‘TheDawn‘ placed seventh in the event for $4,279.93. ‘TheDawn’ also finished eighth in the Money May Series Main Event for $8,153.20.

Winning the $1,000 buy-in WSOP.com $100,000 High Roller for $33,494.71 was Coleman, one of the top-ranked online poker players in New Jersey and the United States. Coleman topped Angel ‘chromeking’ Lopez in heads-up play, with Zachary ‘Dabledore7’ Lipeles taking third. Lopez earned $25,093.96 and it wouldn’t be the last time we heard from him on Sunday. Lipeles won $18,797.26 for this score, which came in addition to the $14,174.60 he won for taking sixth in the Money May Series Main Event.

In the WSOP.com $75,000 GTD NL Sunday 55 event, Andrew ‘WATCHGUY42’ Lichtenberger won it for $19,956. Chris ‘Robotbob47’ Moorman took second for $10,560.05 and Katie ‘katelin’ Lindsay placed third for $6,901.45.

Then it was Frank ‘spaghettiii’ Marasco winning the WSOP.com $50,000 Weekly Sunday [6-Max] for $20,496.63. In this event, Romero, who had placed fourth in the Money May Series Main Event, took fifth for $4,962.34.

Also on WSOP.com, Michael ‘mygame’ Lavenburg won the $40,000 GTD PLO High Roller [6-Max] for $11,461.58.

In Pennsylvania, it was another big Sunday on PokerStars PA. The flagship PokerStars PA Sunday Special drew a field of 1,221 entries for a prize pool of $112,087.80. There was a heads-up deal made and in the end, ‘ATMEric’ won $16,074 for first place and ‘munson42082‘ took $14,381.51 for second.

The PokerStars PA Sunday High Roller [6-Max] saw a field of 202 entries get topped by ‘aldrich801‘ for $7,528.38. He actually didn’t win the most money from the event, though. A heads-up deal was made with ‘tobykeith121,’ who ended up with $8,411.78 for second place.

In the PokerStars PA Nightly Stars event, ‘soccerdad29‘ won it for $5,672.62. Finishing second was ‘aldrich801,’ who added $4,157.86 to his bankroll.

In New Jersey, ‘IIIIIIIIIIIII‘ won the partypoker Sunday $35K GTD NL for $8,000. The event had a prize pool of $40,000. Anthony ‘Flawlessbinkage’ Maio took second for $5,440.

Also on partypoker NJ, ‘supremetny‘ won the Daily $10K GTD NL for $4,082.

The biggest prize won on PokerStars NJ belonged to Ryan ‘ISlowRollYou’ Hohner, who took down the Sunday Special for $9,585.38. Michael ‘J3tBl@ckP0pe’ Gagliano finished eighth for $1,171.80.

Daniel ‘monkeyman067’ Sewnig won the PokerStars NJ Sunday Warm-Up for $2,170.65, and Angel ‘Chr0meKing’ Lopez took the PokerStars NJ Sunday High Roller [6-Max] title for $5,640.

WPT Online: Niklas Astedt Wins Second Title of Series

A handful of WPT Online events wrapped up over the weekend on partypoker, although it was a quieter weekend for the series. The biggest winner was Benjamin Voreland, and we also saw notables Niklas Astedt and Pablo Brito Silva grab titles. For Astedt, it was his second title of the WPT Online series.

PSPC and EPT Barcelona Postponed Until 2021

Although some land-based casinos have started reopening their poker rooms, players will have to wait an additional year for the 2020 PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship (PSPC) and EPT Barcelona events. On Friday, PokerStars made the announcement that it is postponing the two festivals until 2021.

Galfond Challenge: Galfond Strikes for €165,417 Win

Phil Galfond and ‘ActionFreak‘ played for roughly six hours on Thursday, May 21, to push their ‘Galfond Challenge‘ match to an estimated 11,000 hands complete. The session was the 15th between the two high-stakes players and it resulted in a big win for Galfond.

WPT Online: Jeppsson Leads Championship Final Table

The biggest online poker tournament in Pennsylvania history has its winner. Very early on Tuesday morning, ‘D-Low1527‘ topped the huge field of 2,774 entries in the record-breaking PokerStars PA Pennsyl-MANIA tournament to win $69,670.79.
